Life Update + Pineapples

You guys have no idea how good it feels to be writing this blog post. As you can tell, I haven't really been around. My last blog post was over a month ago! So being able to sit down and write this without any distractions makes things feel right again. As some of you know, my father in law, James, passed away earlier this month :((( He had been battling cancer for about a year. Jeremy and I went down to Tijuana with his mom and dad while he was getting treatment, and let me tell you. That was an experience. Not just being in a completely different country, but to actually be at the center. When you are thrown into a setting like that as a "healthy" person, it really makes you think about what you are doing with your life, and how well you are living it. Let's just say Jeremy and I have done some major re-evaluating about the foods we eat and the products we use.

My FIL was definitely a one-of-a-kind human being :) there isn't one exact word that you could use to describe James, you just had to know him. He was goofy, a jokester, hard working, a family man, and so kind. As soon as Jeremy and I started dating, I felt instantly welcomed by him (and Kim). He would randomly call me when I would be at work and ask how many homes I had sold that day, haha. He would also leave silly voicemails with his second alias, "Bill Turner." I will miss those phone calls and voicemails very much... Jeremy was telling me the other day that he doesn't think he's ever gone more than 3 days without talking to his dad in his entire life :( Even when we would take vacations, James would still call us to check in and see how things were going. He always wanted to know what fun things we had done on our trips :) Thankfully, I have a few voicemails saved on my phone that we will be able to listen back on :)

I had James as a FIL just shy of a year. He is and will always be irreplaceable. Even though he is no longer here with us physically, I still have a FIL and I know that he is watching down on us, still checking in :) Jeremy and my's one year anniversary is THIS SUNDAY! Him and I both have no idea where the time went. I still sometimes get the feeling that we are just waiting for our wedding day again, ha! I am so excited to celebrate our one year, but then again it almost makes me sad to think that year is gone. I just want all the time in the world! I'm not too sure what we are doing for our anniversary, Jeremy said he is planning something so we shall see :) Little does he know, I have something REALLY exciting planned in October for us. But for right now, it's a secret!

Another big update on our lives, as well as another reason as to why we aren't sure what we are doing for our anniversary, is that Jeremy and I are hosting an exchange student from Germany! We are so excited to be doing this! His name is Justin and he's 15. He got here on Saturday and we have just been having so much fun. He starts school next week, so we have been busy getting supplies, his class schedule, all that jazz. It definitely is all new to us, ha! He is also playing football, so he's been having practice all week long. He is really into CrossFit, his family back in Germany owns a CrossFit gym, so him and Jeremy have a lot in common! I told Jeremy the other day that we can do things so backwards sometimes, haha! Instead of having our own kid, we decide to have a teenager first! But it is going to be such a fun experience, and we can't wait to show him the American culture and welcome him into our home. Next week we are introducing him to Fantasy Football, it's going to be awesome :)

Okay, I think that might be all of the updates. For now at least! I have some fun posts coming, so stay tuned! Now...to talk about this top. OH-EM-GEEEEEE. To say that I am obsessed would be a huge understatement. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love pineapple anything! So when I came across this shirt, it instantly got ordered (within like 45 seconds, ha!) I love the pinstripes on it, and the fact that the top of the pineapples are pink makes it even cuter! It is only $28 too! Such a steal. I ordered it from JessaKae. I've mentioned this online store before, but I'll link it again here! There are TONS of unique pieces there that I just love. Also, the earrings are Bauble Bar from Target! Am I the only one who is just now finding out that Target sells Bauble Bar?!

P.S: Also, in this post I would just like to thank all of our family and friends, co-workers, and anyone else who has supported our family with the loss of James. Your kind words, generous gestures, and love is SO appreciated. We really have some amazing people in our lives! We love you all!

xo,

Micaiah
