Why I Love Being A Realtor

Never in my life did I think I would be a Realtor. Evening growing up, thinking about what I wanted to do/be, it never, not once crossed my mind. I can't even tell you why I never thought about it, because now that I am one, I can't see myself doing anything else right now. It's funny how things play out in your life. Just goes to show that we really don't know what is best for us, and that the big man upstairs has it all under control :)

The main reason I love what I do, is that I get to meet new people every day, and get to help them. I am definitely an extrovert, so meeting new people and talking with them fuels me! For some people, like my sweet, introvert husband, this is so draining for them! But for me, it really gives me energy and brings me joy. The feeling you get when you are handing over the keys to your buyer is so rewarding :) The second reason is that I have a sligggghhhht obsession with homes and love looking at them. Even with older homes, you can still find unique things about them! You do come across some pretty nasty ones, but hey, it is what it is. I would hope most realtors actually like looking at homes, haha I think it really kind of is the best part, being able to check out all of these homes. Its funny after you've shown homes, you can drive by them and check them off like, "Yup! Been in that one, that one, that one, that one..." ha!

Another reason why I love being a Realtor is the freedom it brings. Jeremy and I own our company, so we are technically are our own bosses, but even as a Realtor working for another company, you basically work as much as you want. Of course, this comes with somewhat of a downside, because if you don't have any pending deals coming up you aren't getting paid! I think being able to make your own schedule in a way makes a person work harder. Or at least teaches them how to motivate themselves to work harder, because you are the one in control of your paycheck. Being a Realtor comes with constant change, too. Whether that be in clients, areas you are working in, changes in houses coming on the market, etc. This is another reason why I love my job. Each day is something new. Meeting new people, viewing new houses; its awesome! I'm not really a creature of habit, so this works perfectly for me!

I remember first starting out, I felt absolutely clueless! Even after taking the state exam and going to the required classes I still was like "uhhh, okay so what do I dooooo?" Getting into real estate has really pushed me out of my comfort zone. It has made me learn self discipline, and has also helped me become a better problem solver. I have also learned a ton about marketing and advertising. Word of advice for any new agents out there: You will learn as you go! It is okay to make mistakes, and don't take yourself too seriously. Real estate doesn't need to be this big, serious, no-fun-whatsoever deal. Be yourself, show your personality, and do the best you can! Your day and life will be much, much happier :)

When you first start off in real estate, you can expect a few months to go by before you get your first sale or listing. It takes time for you to get established, as well as learning how to get leads. Don't get discouraged! Everyone had to start from somewhere. You can't compare yourself to others, everyone's situation is different! Especially for where you are located geographically! Where we live, million dollar listings don't come on the market very often. So, obviously I can't get upset about never having one! Remember, do the best you can.

If you have questions about how to become a Realtor, or would like me to do more topics on real estate, let me know! ANNNNND, if any of you are looking to buy or sell a home, I'm your girl! ;) TGIF!
